Explaining Lady Gaga to my mom
It all started with Alexander McQueen’s suicide. A lot of magazines wrote about it and about his legacy and one in particular wrote about what drove him to suicide and about these shoes.
The armadillo shoes,or whatever they’re called, amazed my mom (an accountant from a small town who enjoys puzzles). She could stop talking about how freaky and unusual the shoes were and how she would fall if she ever wore them.
On the same day she saw the article about the shoes she was looking for something to watch on TV and she stumbled on a Lady Gaga music video, the Bad Romance music video. Her music videos are usually pretty strange and my mom caught the scene where she walks around in the armadillo shoes and my mom got so excited that she called me to watch it with her. After the video was over it was followed by the Paparazzi vid. My mom started asking a bunch of question about Lady Gaga and why dressed that way in her videos and how weird it would be if she dressed
like that on real life. I had to tell my poor mother that Lady Gaga did in fact dress like that in real life. Of course she didn’t believe me and we ended up sitting in front of my computer looking at pictures of Lady Gaga’s crazy outfits. All my very confused mother could say was “Why?” and ”How?” and “Is that a granny girdle?”.
Computer madness
I’m not rich. I’m middle upper middle class if I’m anything . But somehow we have 9 computers. My dad has a home office and he has 2 there plus his lovely little Dell net-book. My mom has a computer and a laptop, my brother has his computer and his Acer net-book and I have my beautiful new Imac. I’ve never fought with my brother over the computer. Ever. Or with my parents for that matter.Come to think of it we have a lot of TVs too. My brother, my parents and I each have one in our rooms and we have one in the living room.
If all the computers in my house got together to gang up on us in an Animal Farm like revolution they would probably win. Well I think the 8 PCs would get together to take down my Mac first and then they would drive us out of the house.
On a completely different note I saw this Rexona commercial that had the nicest soundtrack. I did a little research and found the name of the song. It’s called “Summerface” and it belongs to a band from Spain, that sings in English, called Pajaro Sunrise.Their music is so soft and cute and I really like songs like that. But their album is ( I think) only available in Europe.
Here’s the vid.
Pixie Lott
Yesterday I went to the dermatologist and while I was in the waiting room I was “reading” a National Geographic when the woman next to me put down a GQ, but not any GQ, a german GQ. I put down my NG and picked up the GQ (that NG- GQ thing was lame, I know). As I read the magazine I got to the music section and there was an article on a singer I never heard of; Pixie Lott. She’s a british singer and she’s very young so she’s always being compared to all the other young starlets like Ke$ha and Lindsay Lohan, but according to the article she wants to be know for her music and not for crazy scandals. I immediately loved her name and as soon as I got home I downloaded a bunch of her songs. So far I’ve only heard “Jack” and I still have to hear her most famous song “Mama Do” but I think I’ll buy “Turn It Up”, her album, as soon as I stop being broke.
