Embassy

leave a comment »

I’m going to a plastic factory tomorrow and to the German embassy on Friday and… (wait for it) I have nothing to wear. It’s not the typical “I have nothing to wear” dilemma every girl faces every time she goes to a party, I don’t have a closet full of things I could wear to this. This is an adult party, I have to dress accordingly. All my skirts are out, because they are all short, above the knee or higher. My dresses are out too, they’re either too laid back or too revealing. I have never felt THIS self-conscious about my wardrobe before. I don’t even know what I’m going to do with my hair or my make up. Should I wear make up? I am not ready to attend and adult party, it’s not even a party it’s a lunch, brunch, whatever it is it’s over at 4 pm and my friends and I are going to go to the movies after.
I’ve raided my mom’s closet and she has nothing I like or that fits me. And I don’t want to buy a dress for this, I’m already broke.

ANTM Winners at Forever 21

leave a comment »

I was online shopping the other day  and the girl wearing some funky dress at the Forever 21 website seemed familiar. It was Nicole Linkletter the ANTM Cycle 5 winner.

Apparently she’s married to some guy named  Philip Clarke White and she’s going to college.

I have to admit that a big part of why I bought that flannel shirt was because she was modeling it.

There was also a picture of Whitney Thompson

And there was this  Agyness Deyn look a like

Rachel Coney, bringing back the sixties

leave a comment »

Rachel Coney’s Spring 2011 collection is all about the dresses and right now I’m really into dresses so you’d think I would like it but I don’t. The fabric choices just ruins them for me. Most of them have this abstract print that looks like Technicolor static. Most of the dresses are sleeveless, they either have a boat or a crew neck  and  have that straight sixties cut but this fabrics are not stiff enough for it.

Because of the fabrics it’s a really brad color palette, with some odd combinations. Most of the prints are black and white or balk and blue, but there’s one that’s orange, purple, black and white. There’s also a little pink, lots of tan  and camel, a little brick-red, some olive oil green and white.

Here are some iconic looks from this collection

( this type of print just isn’t my cup of tea)

this is sooooo 60′s

I  would  like this dress if it didn’t have that whole thing going on in the middle

And now the pieces that  I actually thought were pretty amazing

Fashion Week —-> Nicholas K

leave a comment »

It’s fashion week ( I just said that with a squeaky quirky voice).  This isn’t a fashion blog but it will temporarily convert to one until fashion week is over. Aaaaaaand I’m going to talk about Nicholas K’s collection for 2 reasons: 1) Pictures of his collection are available online and well I’m in South America and all the runway shows are at New York so… 2) I don’t want to study for my math final tomorrow

Nicholas’ K’s collection for Spring 2011 has an army inspired vibe. The models wear berets, combat boots and aviator sunglasses and his color palette is very similar to the army’s, so obviously there’s several shades of  green, brown, beige and gray. There’s also some white , a substantial amount of black, but those  colors are  a staple in  almost every collection,  and  there’s also a a little paid. Mostly you see a lot of stripes, you get them in dresses, shorts, as coat lining, on shirts etc I love stripes so to me that’s awesome. Hooded trench coat like jackets in  almost all the afore-mentioned colors are the trademark of this collection and of course the shorts too, you don’t see a lot of pants down that runway.

The clothes are pretty loose-fitting and flow-y, and even though a couple of bandeaus and a few bare midriffs make an appearance , it’s fair to say that they fall in the  ”understated sexy” category  with just  a hint of morning-after  grunge. In my opinion the following pictures pretty much sum up collection.

And these are my favorite looks

If you want to see entire collection go to http://www.fashionologie.com/Spring-2011-New-York-Fashion-Week-Nicholas-K-10897979?

Ps: I think Alli Lohan modeled for this collection but I can’t be sure. She’s wearing sunglasses but it looks a lot like her.

Obsession

leave a comment »

Lately I’ve been obsessed with several things. Like….

1. Cole Mohr

…and Ash Stymest

and Tyler Riggs

and every guy with dark hair and tattoos, I guess you could say I have a type…

2. tights

3. Shredded stuff

And this song has me hitting “repeat”  on my ipod

There are a few obsessions that I don’t get, like I went to see Inception with my friends and they all drooled over  Ellen Page and, well if I had to choose between Marion Cotillard and Ellen Page I would go with the first one. To me she is way hotter. She’s a woman and Ellen Page is just… she’s not quite there yet.

oh and I think I’m also a little bit obsessed with black and white photography…

Chloe

I watched “Chloe” this weekend and I loved the clothes. I really love fashion and even though this isn’t a fashion oriented blog I’m going to talk about them.

The movie’s about a successful female gynecologist (Julian Moore), who’s married to a professor ( I don’t know the name of the actor) and has a son. She thinks her husband is cheating on her so she hires Chloe ( Amanda Seyfried), to seduce her husband and see how far he takes it.

So I don’t give away the ending, you  really don’t see it coming, at all, I’ll get to the point. Chloe falls for the doctor and vice versa. But when  she gets confident about her marriage again, she wants nothing to do with Chloe, who goes all psycho and sleeps with the her son on her marital bed and then kills herself in Julian Moore’s house. The clothes are just amazing. The costume designer did an amazing job. Throughout the movie we see Amanda Seyfried we get to see the difference between her ” work clothes” and her normal attire.

Every time she’s with a client she wears this long funky caramel colored coat with a furry neck  and fancy satin dresses with unusual details, like the pink one she has on when she meets Julian Moore a bathroom. Of course she always wears seductive underwear, in fact the movie opens with her in her black lace garter and bra to match.

The every time she meet Moore she wears down to earth vintage loose fitting  pieces, flannel shirts, patterned tights and the cutest cream feather printed coat. She looks very innocent and she even rides her bike at one point. I think they wanted there to be a strong contrast with who she was and who she pretended to be. The whole movie is about pretending.

And when she meets with Moore’s husband she wears her normal clothes but another great coat, this one’s green and has this almost reptile like print.

Juliane Moore’s clothes are pretty average until the end when she wear a cream blouse with a huge black bow, which I didn’t like at all.

Another Polyvore post for the blogosphere

Paola
elementos de este set
Keith Richards F02B White T-shirt, 35 GBP
Studded Waist Pleat Skirt, $20
Giuseppe Zanotti Suede ankle boots, $477
Angel Jackson Disco Flag Satchel Bag, $433
Andrew Hamilton Crawford – Headphone Pendant (Black) – Jewelry, $51

I have nothing to do so I decided to give Polyvore a shot. I didn´t know what to do it about so this is what my friend Paola would wear if a) she wore skirts and heels and b) she could afford it. She’s the biggest music junky ever, hence the Ipod, and she’s very rock & roll. But she mostly wears black, white, blue  or grey with just a hint of color here and there. I tried to capture her style (there’s a sentence I´d never thought I’d write) but I tried to make it a little more stylish too.
